Ball Hockey World Championship 2026 Ostrava
Ball Hockey World Championship 2026 in Ostrava: World-Class Sport Under Our Partner’s Lighting
Ostrava is hosting the biggest sporting event of this summer. From 20 to 28 June 2026, the Ostravar Arena in the Vítkovice district has become the stage for the Men’s and Women’s Ball Hockey World Championship – and it is under the lighting supplied by our partner that all the key matches of the championship are being played.
What Is Ball Hockey?
Ball hockey is a sport very similar to ice hockey. Players do not move on skates – they run on the court and instead of a puck, an orange plastic ball is used. At the elite level, it is a fast, technically demanding sport with athletic requirements comparable to ice hockey.
The Czech Republic is a world power in ball hockey. The men’s team has won a medal at 13 of the 15 World Championships held to date; the women’s team has stood on the podium at all nine Women’s World Championships ever played. The home environment in Ostrava brings enormous expectations.

Czech Teams Dominate – Latest Results
The home teams entered the championship in excellent form. The men defeated Finland 8:6 and then convincingly beat defending champions Canada 6:3. The women handled Slovakia 5:1 and Canada 6:4. Both teams enter the quarter-finals as among the biggest favourites for gold medals.
Ostrava is targeting the attendance record – currently held by the 2017 World Championship in Pardubice with 72,520 visitors.
Lighting That the Whole World Sees
At every major sporting championship, the quality of lighting is a critical factor. For players, it means even light distribution without glare; for television broadcasts, sufficient intensity for HD recording; for spectators, a clear view without shadows or flashes.
Our partner supplied the lighting for Ostravar Arena, under which all championship matches are played – from the group stage through the quarter-finals and semi-finals to the gold medal final on 28 June. Thousands of fans in the arena and millions watching on television screens are all watching sport under this system.
Modern LED lighting for sports halls delivers:
- Even illumination without shadows or player glare
- Parameters meeting the requirements of television broadcasts and international sports federations
- Significantly lower energy consumption compared to older technologies
- Long service life and minimal maintenance requirements
