ICE Professional Upgrades Climate System at Iconic Heydar Aliyev Palace in Baku
ICE Professional Designs Climate and Dehumidification System for Heydar Aliyev Palace in Baku
ICE Professional has completed the design of a highly complex air conditioning and dehumidification system for the iconic Heydar Aliyev Sports and Concert Complex in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.
This architecturally remarkable multifunctional venue with a capacity of up to 8,000 was built in 1977 and officially opened in 1990. Since then, it has hosted dozens of international sports and cultural events – including gymnastics championships, boxing tournaments, and concerts by global stars.
Over the years, the complex has undergone several renovations – especially in 2006 and again in 2014–2015 when it was modernized to meet the demands of the European Games. Inside, the venue features training halls, VIP zones, media facilities, and other world-class amenities.
Technical Challenge:
Design a reliable climate and humidity control system for a historic structure with a unique construction. Today, the palace functions as an ice arena, so the goal was to ensure optimal conditions for both athletes (e.g., hockey, figure skating) and spectators.
Our engineers had to take into account the specific 1970s architecture, the large internal volume, the variable operation schedule, and the need for precise climate control over the ice surface. The design incorporates state-of-the-art European technologies to ensure comfort and energy-efficient operation.
Currently, we are starting the equipment delivery and installation phases.
Stay tuned for more updates as we share progress from this iconic venue in Baku.
